Project Manager: Mine Reclamation in Kimberley, British Columbia

My Client is a major mining company and they have an opportunity for a Mine Reclamation Project Manager for their Kimberley, British Columbia Operations.For qualified candidates this is an excellent opportunity to live and work in the ski resort town of Kimberley.This is initially a two year contract Responsibilities: Working with external consultants/contractors the Project Manager will manage the planning and implementation of remediation projects at various dormant properties within CanadaWork with government regulators; prepare and manage major projects; oversee contractors to ensure work proceeds safely and in an environmentally sensitive manner; and are completed in a cost effective manner The Project Manager will develop budgets, monitor and forecast costs as well as providing detailed internal and external reports of key project information. Produce and/or oversee the development and review of contract tender documents, requests for proposals, analysis of bids, and recommendations for award of contracts.Provide/ensure qualified and effective onsite contract supervision.Report on work progress including safety and environmental performance, properly documenting work undertaken (i.e. as-built drawings, disposal of hazardous materials, etc.).Provide various reports for internal use and for external use such as permit or other regulatory reporting requirements.Interface with regulatory personnel to obtain permits and approvals, and related to activities and conditions at various dormant properties. Qualifications: Degree or diploma in civil technology or the equivalentMinimum 5 years experience in construction management including: Direct supervision of heavy construction activities (earth moving, industrial building construction/demolition)Development and managing implementation of contractsManagement of multi-disciplinary project teams Demonstrated successful performance related to health and safety, budget development and control, schedule development and achieving compliance with schedulesProficiency in Microsoft Word / Excel / OutlookProficiency in preparing and presenting project progress and regulatory compliance reportsSound knowledge of regulatory requirements, particularly as they pertain to the mining industry in British Columbia and the YukonEffective leader with excellent communication, interpersonal, and people management skillsAbility to travel frequently within Canada to oversee and/or supervise the assigned work at the dormant sites For qualified candidates the client offers an excellent salary, benefits and relocation package.Listing originally posted at
